Assistant Scientist and Manager
(SUSTAIN Facility)
Dr. Mehta is an oceanographer in the dept of ocean sciences. He oversees and manages the day-to-day research operations, personnel, and instrumentation in the SUSTAIN facility. He has over 12 years of teaching, research and administration experience and has worked with teams from the US Navy during Coastal Land Air Sea Interaction (ASIS buoys) deployments (2021-2023) and currently working with US Army Corps of Engineers in the DARPA's Seahive project. His field of interests are Air-Sea interaction physics, wave dynamics, boundary layer fluid mechanics, optical flow visualization and platform development. He got his Ph. D. in Applied Marine Physics from the University of Miami (2019) and a masters from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2012. Before joining SUSTAIN lab in 2015, he was a teaching faculty in the Mechanical Engineering dept. (2012-2014) at the Manipal University, Jaipur (India).
